The Adelaide class guided missile frigate has undertaken roles including area air-defence, anti-submarine warefare, surveillance, reconnaissance and interdiction as part of Australia's defence force.

Launched in 1978 and commissioned in March 1981, the 4100 tonne ship served the Australian Navy for 24 years. During her service Canberra covered 1.3 million kilometers and had military stints in the Persian Gulf, off the Solomon Islands, east of Africa and south of Russia.

Once scuttled off Barwon Heads, Ex-HMAS Canberra will become an exciting dive site.
