Army Utility Work Boat (AUW) Project on behalf of DMO for the Commonwealth of Australia
Overview:
This new build project entailed the manufacture of ninety (90), aluminium work boats that carry a maximum of ten (10) Army Soldiers. The original MK1 Assault Boat had fulfilled much of the Army’s general purpose small boat requirement for over thirty-nine years. The replacement AUW boats have the prime function of transporting soldiers in tactical groups across inland waterways and limited coastal transit. These lightweight, rapid and versatile boats are deployed throughout Australia.
The Construction and Delivery of two (2) new Vehicular Ferries
Overview:
Birdon Group’s Engineering Division was awarded the construction of a twenty-four (24) car ferry by N.S.W. RTA and a twenty-one (21) car ferry for the Port Macquarie Hastings Council.
Contract JLUSQ-05-06 for the Refurbishment of the Medium Girder Bridging Units and Components on behalf of the Joint Logistic Unit (South Qld)
Overview:
Birdon Group’s Engineering Division has a standing order for the life-of-type, fully functional maintenance condition of the Medium Girder Bridging Units and components. The aluminium-zinc, magnesium alloy components combine to form a complete Bridge assembly. These bridge assemblies are utilized by the Royal Army Engineer Corp (RAE) for the transportation of equipment and the crossing by Engineers of various gaps.
Bridge Erection Propulsion Boats (BEPB) for DMO on behalf of the Army Royal Australian Engineers (RAE)
Overview:
Birdon Group’s Engineering Division designed and built the BEPB vessels (twenty-four) that are utilized throughout Australia by the RAE for the crossing of wet-gaps, in times of war fare and emergency. Our Defence Division now undertakes the maintenance support including: maintenance and repairs, spares support, configuration management, upgrades and modifications along with project management.
Construction of a Cutter Suction Dredger
Overview:
Birdon Group’s Engineering Division was awarded a contract for the design and construction of a Cutter Suction Dredger for Gippsland Ports. The dredger was delivered to Lakes Entrance for Birdon Group’s personnel to commission and further train Gippsland Ports personnel in the day-to-day operations.
